The real problem with discovery learning is that most people aren’t very good at discovering new knowledge and ideas. For the exceptionally talented and curious individual, there’s a valid place for some forms of discovery learning, but these students are rare, and for everybody else discovery learning just doesn’t work very well.

Ultimately, the real test is empirical — if we implement discovery learning in our classrooms, what will happen? Teachers who attempt this will quickly be disabused of any illusions they might have about well this works.

Of course no learning these days is only one or the other and by bagging discovery learning you are bagging a discovery activity /s as part of an integrated approach designed to be best suited to the knowledge ?skills ?attitudes values & learners involved -Helpful but far too simplistic Psychologists have to accept that learning and teaching is also a social/ sociological process This type of one sided we know much much better than you teachers is really unhelpful to us
